Cloud dough is made with oil. Traditional food coloring is made from water. Since oil can not mix with water you can not use traditional food coloring to color cloud dough. However, candy coloring (or oil based food coloring) DOES work!
Colored Cloud Dough Recipe (affiliate links provided)
- 8 Cups of Flour
- 1 Cup of vegetable oil
- Candy Food Colors
Method
This colorful cloud dough couldn't be easier to make! Simply combine the flour and oil along with a few drops of candy food coloring in a sensory bin or container and mix well. Add more candy food coloring until the desired color is reached
You can easily mix and blend colors, and the coloring is so vibrant! I was so excited when I discovered the candy food colors that I just had to experiment and make multicolored cloud dough.
To do this I made a batch of uncolored cloud dough and then divided it and added the coloring
Rosie and Jewel have had so much fun with it, too!
We found our candy food colors online here. The ones we used were made by Wilton's. You can also find candy coloring in the baking aisle at stores like Michaels and Walmart.
I have lots of other great ideas spinning in my head using this amazing food coloring. Connect with me on Pinterest and Facebook so that you don't miss the fun!
