We had a bit of spaghetti left over after dinner the other night, and I am so glad we did! I ended up turning those noodles into tons of fun for Jewel and Rosie. Pasta noodles are great for sensory play and also for exploring art.
Painting with RAINBOW Pasta
Materials
- Cooked pasta (prepared just as you normally do)
- Paint or food coloring
- Paper
- A Tray or box
I set up for this activity the same way I had set up to paint with water beads. I placed a piece of white construction paper in a shallow box. I then divided our left over pasta into cups and mixed in a squirt of varying colored paint. As I added the paint Rosie and I talked about the colors.
Rosie couldn't wait to jump in and start painting with the noodles
She giggled with delight as the paint flung from the pasta
She loved the texture of the wet noodles
For All the Best Kid Pins
And painted for a really long time!
Rosie absolutely loved this activity!
I wanted Jewel to get to partake in the fun too, so I set out a little bit of the colored pasta on a plate and let her explore.
She had so much fun!
Jewel did not put any of the pasta in her mouth, but was closely monitored while playing to ensure safety. Cooked pasta is a soft material & makes a great first sensory experience for babies; just be sure to supervise.
