Just imagine setting the kids loose to toss glowing paint filled eggs on a hot Summers night. I mean, that's an epic play time right there and one soon not forgotten! Here's how to do it.
Materials
- Emptied egg shells
- Glow in the dark or neon paint
- Tissue paper
- A glue stick
- A black canvas or piece of poster-board
- A plastic tarp or tablecloth to lay under the art space
Note: if using neon paint you will need a black light. Be sure to check the bottom of the post for a few helpful tips.
Method
If you have not seen our original paint filled eggs post be sure to check it out! There you will find super easy instructions for making paint filled eggs. It is really simple. Here, I did the same exact thing except I used glowing paint to fill the eggs
Once the eggs are filled with the glowing paint of your choice all you have to do is cover the openings with tissue paper and let them dry. To see that step in more detail visit our original egg paint post. Then, the FUN can begin!
My kids loved tossing the eggs at the black canvases to create beautiful works of art
As each egg hit canvas it exploded into a beautiful river of color. As more eggs were thrown the colors ran together in truly breath taking ways
Once all of the eggs were thrown Rosie and Jewel tossed them again. Many of the eggs did not fully break the first time, so they were able to be thrown more than once, which was awesome and extended the fun
I absolutely love the artwork they created and have it displayed in our home. It is beautiful day or night, but since we used a combination of both glow in the dark & neon paint it looks pretty cool at night! And if we happen to turn our black light on in the room where these are hanging WOW is all I can say!
This is such an amazing art project for kids!
A Few Tips: We used a dollar store tablecloth to cover the area where we were doing this activity. You could also take it outside, but since we used neon paint we wanted to have our black light on. While a black light is not needed I highly recommend using one if possible. If you do not have a black light the one we used can be purchased on Amazon here.
We also used glow in the dark paint for this activity. Glow in the dark paint can be bought in a variety of colors at Walmart or online here. The black canvases we used were purchased here. We made two dozen paint eggs, and that was more than enough for my girls to paint, create, and have a blast!
