We have been doing a lot of exploring with the black light, and we have been having so much fun! This activity was a favorite for sure! The best part is we already had all the materials for this play set up on hand!
Black Light Sticky Table
To make our Black Light Sticky Table I used a clear plastic storage bin turned upside down, and placed a portable black light fixture similar to this one on the inside. I then covered the storage bin with contact paper, sticky side up. I taped a few strips of wax paper on the interior underside of the storage container to cloud out the black light, and make it so that Jewel and Rosie weren't staring straight into the light. Then turn out all the lights, and you have a fantastically fun Black Light Sticky Table!
While setting up this activity, I gathered a variety of glowing items for Rosie and Jewel to stick to the table. Rosie loved sticking stuff on.
She loved creating beautiful glowing towers out of UV reactive cups
.....and knocking them down!
Rosie and Jewel also loved the texture of the sticky table itself. I love how something so simple is able to result in so many giggles!
This was such a fun activity, and led to another discovery! While creating this black light sticky table, I realized it is actually a fantastic black light table for exploring with black light in other ways. It would be a great way to explore glowing water beads, and all the other fun things you can make with glowing water. It is essentially the same thing as a homemade light box, except that it GLOWS!
I just love how this activity brought so many fun ways to play together!
