UPDATE: We just tried a new glowing egg dying technique. You have to check it out after you see how we made the original glowing eggs! It might even be cooler than this one:
Now back to the original glow egg tutorial:
This activity turned out way cooler than I thought it was going to! Don't you just love when that happens? I tried my hand at making glowing egg dye and glow in the dark egg dye. I was very pleased with the results of both.
To make GLOWING Egg Dye you will need:
- Fluorescent or Glow in the Dark paint
- Water
- Vinegar
- If using fluorescent paint you will need a blacklight.
Note: Both kinds of paint produced neat results, but the best results were seen with the fluorescent paint and a blacklight.
This is the fluorescent paint we use.

Method
- In a bowl add a dollop on the glowing paint of your choice. Then add roughly the same amount of very warm water and stir until the paint is dissolved.
- Add vinegar (roughly 1/4 cups) and mix well. That's it! So easy, and both the glow in the dark egg dye and the fluorescent egg dye turned out FANTASTIC!
Now the egg dying fun can begin!
Rosie had a blast transferring the eggs from one bowl to the other until she had submerged each one in all the different bowls of glowing dye.
This egg dying technique was amazingly colorful and quite spectacular.
As the eggs were moved from dye color to dye color the swirling colors and effects were beautiful!
So magical and FUN!
Rosie dipped and dropped the eggs into the varying bowls over and over again. She didn't want to stop! The more she dipped the eggs in the varying dyes the cooler they became!
Once she had her fill the eggs quickly dried, and the final results were so beautiful!
I would deem this a must try kids activity for sure! I mean, don't the pictures just SCREAM fun?
Also be sure to check out the new way we found to dye eggs this year:
