Chocolate Cloud Dough
Recipe for PLAY
Cloud dough is a wonderful sensory material. It is easy to make and feels like fluffy clouds in your hands, yet it is mold-able. There are so many ways kids can play with this stuff, and it lasts indefinitely which is always a bonus. It can easily be stored and vacuums up fairly easily. We have made cloud dough in tons of ways; visit our play recipes collection for more ideas.
Chocolate Cloud Dough Recipe
- 7 cups of flour
- 1/2 cup of cocoa powder
- 1 cup of vegetable oil
Mix the flour and cocoa in a sensory bin or container. Then add the oil and mix. It may take a few minutes of mixing for the oil to completely blend into the dry ingredients, but that's it! Couldn't be easier, right?
Nothing says Valentine's Day quite like chocolate, making this recipe for play perfect for the holiday. The aroma of chocolate also improves mood and stimulates brain function, making it a fantastic addition to early learning activities.
We also added heart scoopers, cupcake liners, bowls, cookie cutters, and heart skewers to act as candles.
Rosie and Jewel have had lots of fun exploring and have found all sorts of ways to play and explore. We reviewed many early learning concepts and also had lots of fun simply playing. The girls especially loved making pretend cupcakes and other chocolaty treats
After a few weeks we will store our cloud dough again for future play. I am thinking it would be a great play material to pull out around Easter. Really though, this stuff is so fun it is sure to be a hit with the kids anytime!
A Few Tips: If you don't have cocoa powder on hand you could use hot chocolate packets, chocolate extract, or Duncan Hines Frosting Powder. You can find tons of stuff to add to your cloud dough sensory bin at the dollar store. We actually got all the added elements there.
