This paint is so incredibly easy to make, and it is safe for even the littlest littles to use!
Scratch & Sniff Paint
- Kool-aid packets
- Water
- Corn starch
This is one paint recipe that really allows you to play with the consistency. You can add more or less of the above ingredients and cater these paints to your own preference. Use more or less Kool- aid to produce a stronger scent & color. Use more or less corn starch to make a thicker or thinner paint. You can even omit the corn starch and just use water. That will give you a watercolor-type paint. This time I used half of a Kool-aid packet to make each color along with one tablespoon of corn starch and 1/4 cups of water. Simply mix the ingredients in a small container and that's it!
The Kool-aid produces vibrant colors
and the aromas are AMAZING
Rosie and Jewel love this paint and it is so very easy to make
Once dry hang kids art at their level and they will delight in sniffing their creations. No scratching is needed, but Rosie and Jewel still like to gently rub the art and then sniff.
A Few Tips: This paint has a different texture than traditional paint. It is generally a bit thinner but can be made thick if desired by simply using more corn starch. In the past I have used varying amounts of the ingredients to create different art experiences. Kids can paint freely, or you can give them fruit cut outs so they can make fruity scratch and sniff art. If there is paint left over it can be stored, but the corn starch may settle on the bottom. If this happens simply stir the paints before play.
